HaulWell™ Code of the Road booklet designed to support truck drivers with practical guidance

The reality of new drivers

Many of the most valuable lessons in trucking are not found in the manual.

They are learned later through:

• long driving hours
• schedule pressure
• irregular sleep
• limited food options
• stress from traffic and deadlines

New drivers often enter the industry knowing how to operate the truck while still learning how to handle the lifestyle of the road.

That learning curve can take months or years.

Code of the Road was created to help newer drivers navigate that learning curve with practical guidance they can carry with them.

What the booklet provides

The HaulWell™ Code of the Road brings together 12 practical rules shaped by the lived experience of veteran drivers.

Each rule turns hard-earned road wisdom into clear, simple guidance that newer drivers can understand and remember.

The booklet is intentionally concise.

It is not another long manual, training course, or policy document.

Drivers can:

• read it quickly
• keep it in the cab
• revisit one rule at a time
• use it as a reminder during demanding seasons on the road
• return to it as their experience grows

The guidance reflects lessons that are often learned only after months or years behind the wheel—how to stay steady, protect your judgment, respect your limits, and handle the realities of the job.

It gives newer drivers something veteran drivers have always relied on:

Practical wisdom they can carry with them.

WHY CODE OF THE ROAD?

Code of the Road was created to preserve the practical lessons veteran drivers have learned through years behind the wheel and make those lessons accessible to the next generation.

Rather than replacing formal driver training, it complements it by focusing on the everyday realities of life on the road that are often learned only through experience.
